Jefferson Municipal Complex Site of Festivities
Santa, Rudolph, and a brightly lighted tree ushered in the Christmas season at the municipal complex on Friday, November 30.
Mayor Russ Felter opened the event by acknowledging the individuals and organizations that helped to create the special evening. He noted that the annual tree lighting tradition requires a lot of organization, volunteers, and coordination.
Preceding the tree lighting, the Middle School Select Chorus, directed by Danielle Schrek, sang a medley of carols. Then the decorated tree in the gazebo and surrounding trees on the municipal grounds burst into colorful light. Children gathered in the gazebo listened intently as council president Debi Merz read “The Night Before Christmas,” and the choral students led a community sing.
Sirens heralded the next highly anticipated moment: Santa and Rudolph had arrived! Santa’s sleigh was pulled by Jefferson Township Fire Department Company No 1. The jolly man made his way to the gazebo, where he and Rudolph posed for photos and handed out treats to the children.
All participants were invited to warm up with hot chocolate and coffee (provided by Casa Bianca) and cookies (provided by the Recreation Department) in the municipal building. Then … to all a good night!
