Eight adult exercise classes are being offered this winter through the town’s Recreation Department: beginner and intermediate yoga, chair yoga, core strength training, Zumba, cardio kickboxing, PiYo (Pilates/yoga), and turbo kick strength. See below for class details.

Registration must be completed online using the “2019 Adult Exercise Classes” season at https://register.communitypass.net/reg/index.cfm. Payment can be made with a credit card (convenience fee added) or select “Send Payment” at checkout for the option to mail or hand-deliver payment to the Recreation Department office (81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849). If assistance is required during the registration process, contact the office at 973-663-8404 x4 or cpunturieri@jeffersontownship.net. If full payment is not received in the office within three business days, registration may be canceled.

Winter Exercise Classes

Beginner Hatha Yoga ($31.50): Wednesdays, January 16-March 13 (9 weeks), 7:30-8:30 p.m., Middle School cafeteria. Certified instructor: Linda Mangan. Learn yoga postures, principles of safe alignment, and breathing technique. Increase flexibility, release tension, and build mental clarity. Bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water. Note: No class on March 20.

Intermediate Hatha Yoga ($31.50): Thursdays, January 17-March 14 (9 weeks), 7:30-8:30 p.m., Middle School cafeteria. Certified instructor: Linda Mangan. Explore traditional yoga postures with basic to challenging options; emphasis on safe alignment, breath, meditation, and guided relaxation techniques. Bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water. Note: No class on March 21.

Chair Yoga ($35): Wednesdays, January 16-March 20 (10 weeks), 6:00-7:00 p.m., Camp Jefferson Community Lodge. Certified instructor: Linda Mangan. Learn modified yoga postures incorporating the same principles as a full yoga class, but seated in a chair focusing on breathing techniques and stress management tools such as meditation and deep relaxation.

Core high energy, low-impact strength training ($31.50): Tuesdays, January 15-March 12 (10 weeks), 7:00-7:45 p.m., Middle School cafeteria. Certified instructor: Jill Carlson. Gain an understanding of flexibility, balance, and coordination with a concentration on functional exercise to build strength and make it easier to carry out everyday daily activities. Bring a bottle of water, a challenging set of hand weights, and a mat or large towel for floor exercises. Note: No class on March 19.

Zumba ($31.50): Thursdays, January 17-March 14 (9 weeks), 6:15-7:00 p.m., Middle School cafeteria. Certified instructor: Yesenia Centeno. Learn low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party using Latin and world rhythms. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. Note: No class on March 21.

Cardio Kickboxing ($28): Wednesdays, January 16-March 6 (8 weeks), 7:30-8:15 p.m., Camp Jefferson Community Lodge. Certified instructor: Sarah Langan. Learn high-energy cardio kickboxing combos and body-sculpting dance moves choreographed to the hottest music mixes. Bring a bottle of water and a towel. Note: No class on March 13.

PiYo ($28): Tuesdays, January 15-March 12 (8 weeks), 8:00-8:45 p.m., Middle School cafeteria. Certified instructor: Sarah Langan. Sweat, stretch, and strengthen with this all-in-one workout that is a low-impact, high-intensity fusion of Pilates and Yoga. Bring a mat, a bottle of water, and a towel; shoes are optional. Note: No class on February 19.

Turbo Kick Strength ($28): Tuesdays, January 15-March 12 (8 weeks), 6:00-6:45 p.m., Camp Jefferson Community Lodge. Certified instructor: Sarah Langan. This class is similar to cardio kickboxing with an added strength portion using body weight. Bring a bottle of water and a towel. Note: No class on February 19.
