The annual Lake Loop will take place on Sunday, October 7, at Hopatcong State Park in Landing. Participants can choose to bike, run, or paddle – doing one, two, or all three challenges – while enjoying beautiful views of Lake Hopatcong. Start times are staggered to allow participation in more than one event.

Biking: three scenic routes of 20, 40, and 62 miles around Lake Hopatcong (Strava timing on hill climbs available, top finisher recognition)

Running: 5K/3.1-mile or 1.5-mile trail run (sanctioned 5K with awards presented)

Paddling: 2.5 miles (kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards available for rent)

Finish the event at Hopatcong State Park with great local food, a beer tent (first beer included, second $5), live music, photo booth, hula hoops, massages, and more – all part of the registration fee, along with a T-shirt.

“Lake Hopatcong provides a beautiful setting for this event,” noted Lake Loop chair Becky Rubenstein. “Whether you’re a competitive cyclist, an avid runner, or someone who enjoys getting out in nature, you can choose your challenge and go at your own pace.”

The Lake Loop is sponsored by Live the Lake NJ. Proceeds support the Lake Hopatcong Foundation’s programs and initiatives aimed at improving the state’s largest lake for all, now and in the years to come. Roberta Schmidt, development director, stated that “all participants will receive a fundraising page, upon registration, that can be easily shared via email or social media. Prizes and perks, including a VIP tent, will be awarded to the top fundraising individuals.”

Individuals or teams can register here. The early registration fee is $40 through August 31 and $45 from September 1 through October 5. After that, the fee is $65 (reduced fees for children through age 12). Registration includes participation in any or all activities.
