Dial-a-Ride is Jefferson Township’s free curb-to-curb paratransit service to medical appointments and local shopping. It is available for residents 55 and over and those with permanent disabilities. Although vehicles are wheelchair accessible, Dial-a-Ride is not a medically certified transportation service.

To arrange appointments, call the Dial-a-Ride office at 973-208-6123 between 9:30 and noon at least one business day in advance for shopping and two business days for medical trips; holidays and weekends do not count. Leave a message including full name, telephone number, address, and date/destination requested.

A registration form must be submitted prior to transportation. To obtain a form and additional information, call the office or visit www.jeffersontownship.net. On the left side of the homepage, click on Form Center. Scroll down to Recreation and Senior Services and click on Dial-a-Ride 2019 Registration Form. If it is imperative to speak with someone immediately, call the Recreation Department at 973-663-8404.

Shopping (four bags maximum): Monday through Friday (Acme, beauty salons, nutrition sites, local banks) and Tuesdays/Thursdays (Rockaway Mall, Walmart, Target, ShopRite).

Medical Appointments and Local Hospitals: Monday through Friday within a 12-mile radius of the Jefferson municipal building. Please make appointments between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Reserve a ride by noon at least two business days in advance. For medical procedures such as dialysis and surgeries, and any procedures that require anesthesia, the ride will be one way to the destination only; clients are responsible for their return home.
