With the Jefferson Falcon Varsity Football team set to close out their 2017 regular season this Friday night against Lenape Valley in Stanhope, Head Football Coach Jerry Venturino took a few minutes to give some final thoughts on last week’s game against Sparta and what to expect this Friday against the Patriots.

Q: As always, coach, thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to talk with us.  First what final words do you have about last Friday’s game against Sparta

Coach Venturino (CV): It was an exciting game to be a part of, a good entertaining game. We always say we put in the work during the week to give our fans a reason to cheer on game night.

We grade the team’s play on effort and competing and I think we did both Saturday.  Naturally, we’re upset for the kids that we didn’t get the win but the best thing is we got to compete.

Q: What can we expect from Lenape Valley Friday Night?

CV: They run a Wing-T offense. They’re pretty much a running team but you have to be careful they don’t lull you to sleep and beat you with a pass. They play a physical run game and a physical style defense. We have to make sure we execute our game plan.  Plus Lenape Valley’s coaching staff has over 100 years combined coaching experience so you know they’ll be prepared.

From Michael Chirichella, Associate Sports Editor: Thank you for your time Coach Venturino, we’ll see you Friday night and we’ll be ready to celebrate back at “the rock” after the game.
