Bella Vista Restaurant in Oak Ridge was closed to the public Tuesday night so it could open its doors to the community – specifically the volunteer first responders of Jefferson Township.

Each year, members of the township’s four volunteer first response organizations dine together at the waterfront restaurant. In attendance were members of Jefferson Township Fire Department companies 1 and 2, the Jefferson Rescue Squad, and the Milton First Aid Squad.

Bella Vista’s kitchen to provide an ample buffet of outstanding Mediterranean fare, the cozy setting provided the atmosphere, and as always the members provided the entertainment.

“It has always been a tradition for me (to host the first responders),” owner Johnny Sera said. “I have owned several restaurants across New Jersey and I always thought it was important to show my appreciation.  Sometimes for the firefighters, sometimes for a retirement home, now for the volunteers of this town. I come from a law enforcement family, I love the community–for me, the chance to say thank you is something so special.”
