Officials at Hopatcong State Park are reminding Lake Hopatcong users that a five-foot drawdown of the water level is scheduled to commence on September 22 or soon thereafter.

The New Jersey State Park Service will begin lowering the water level to achieve a 60-inch (five-foot) drawdown by November 1, 2018. Those planning to use public launches at Hopatcong State Park and other access points on the lake should contact them in advance for an update on launch conditions.

The annual 26-inch drawdown protects docks on Lake Hopatcong from ice damage. The five-foot drawdown that occurs every five years allows for more significant dock repair.

For additional questions regarding this year’s 60-inch drawdown, contact the park office at 973-398-7010.
