The Jefferson Recreation Department is offering the following summer exercise classes.

Yoga (two levels, Beginner & Mixed)

Beginner Level Wednesdays June 10 through August 12 from 7-8 p.m., make-up date of August 26 if needed

Session fee: $35 per person, for a 10-week session

Location: on the grounds of Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong

Students will be instructed in one of the oldest styles of yoga — the Hatha style by certified instructor Kristine Wilsusen. Learn yoga postures, principles of safe alignment, and breathing technique — open to new beginners, those with limited yoga experience, or anyone just wanting to take it slow and steady. While doing these gentle poses, you’ll naturally increase flexibility, release tension, and build mental clarity. All students should bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water to each session. Maximum of 24 students per session.

Mixed Level (two sessions)

Tuesday classes will begin June 9 through August 18 from 7-8 p.m., make-up date of August 25; Thursday classes will begin on June 11 through August 20 from 7-8 p.m., make-up date of August 27

Class fee: $35 per person, for a 10-week session

Location: Chamberlain Field, 48 Chamberlain Road, Oak Ridge (Water’s Edge development) Students of either one or both classes will be instructed in one of the oldest styles of yoga — the Hatha style by certified instructor Julie Mastricola. A comprehensive, balanced class with a steady and relaxed flow will be offered in this Intermediate Class. Explore traditional yoga postures with basic to challenging options, and emphasis on safe alignment, breath, meditation, and guided relaxation techniques. All students should bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water to each session. Maximum of 24 students per session.

CORE (two sessions)

Weekday evening session will be on Tuesdays, June 9 through August 18 from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Weekday morning session will be on Thursdays, June 11 through August 13 from 8:30 – to 9:15 a.m.

Class fee: $35 per person, for a 10-week session

Location: on the grounds of Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong

This class is a high energy, low impact, strength training exercise program. Taught by Certified Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor, Yoga Teacher, Indoor Cycling, Golden Hearts Instructor Jill Carlson, this strength class will help you gain an understanding of flexibility, balance, coordination and not only isolated exercise but a concentration on functional exercise, which not only builds strength but makes it easier to carry out your everyday daily activities. Jill’s challenge will change you! Participants should bring a bottle of water, a challenging set of hand weights, and a mat or large towel for the floor exercises. Maximum of 24 students per session.

Zumba® Classes

Thursdays, June 11 through August 20 from 6:15 – 7 p.m.

Class fee: $35 per person, for a 10-week session

Location: on the grounds of Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong

The class is taught by Certified Zumba® Fitness Instructor Yesenia Centeno. Zumba® takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. The Latin and World rhythms take over – it’s exercise in disguise! Zumba® is a total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you attend a class. All students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water to each session. Maximum of 24 students per session.

Cardio Kickboxing (two sessions)

Weekday evening session will be on Wednesdays, June 10 through August 12 from 6:00 – 6:45 p.m., with the exception of June 17 has been moved to June 18 . Weekend Morning session will be on Saturdays, June 13 through August 15 from 9 – 9:45 a.m.

Session Fee: $ 35 per person, for a 10-week session

Location: on the grounds of Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong

This high-energy class features cardio kickboxing combos and body-sculpting dance moves choreographed to the hottest music mixes. It really is the ultimate cardio kickboxing party! It’s also a great way to create a strong community of support, camaraderie, and fitness breakthroughs. This class will be taught by Sarah Langan, a health, fitness and nutrition coach with a certified personal trainer certificate. She is a full-time special education teacher in Paterson, loves to craft and assist brides on their wedding day, and a new mom. Participants should bring a bottle of water and a towel to each class. Maximum of 24 students per session.
