A passenger vehicle and an oil tanker were involved in a motor vehicle crash on Route 15 North in Lake Hopatcong on Wednesday, April 25. The accident resulted in diesel fuel leaking from the oil tanker onto the roadway. There were no injuries.

Police officer Robert Coyle arrived at approximately 8:40 p.m. Both lanes of the northbound highway were closed until about 1:00 a.m., when the left lane was reopened. The incident was fully cleared by 4:00 a.m.

The following agencies assisted in the incident: Jefferson Township Fire Department Companies 1 and 2, Jefferson Township Rescue Squad, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey State Police, and area hazmat crews.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
