Blue Star Mothers of Northern New Jersey Sponsor Holiday Care Packages

Military men and women who are currently deployed will receive holiday care packages in the upcoming season, thanks to the efforts of local Blue Star Mothers.

The Northern New Jersey chapter (NJ6) has placed a “giving tree” at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Milton (5748 Berkshire Valley Road, Oak Ridge). Residents are invited to take a star and purchase the item written on it.

Items on the stars include the following:

  • Gift cards – Amazon and iTunes
  • K-cups (any flavor) – for Keurig coffee machines
  • Christmas decorations – mini trees, mini lights, hard ornaments, small wreaths, Christmas stockings
  • Hanukkah decorations – menorah, dreidel, Star of David
  • Food (no meltable chocolate!) – Ovaltine, hot chocolate, cookies, kettle potato chips (any flavor), fruit snacks (any kind), gum (any kind), granola/protein bars (not chocolate coated), trail mix (no chocolate)

The star and the item together should be returned to the donut shop by Saturday, November 10. The nonprofit organization is hoping to provide holiday cheer to active members of the military through the giving tree program.

The Blue Star Mothers of Northern New Jersey was established in 2017 to assist and support active and veteran military members, their families, Gold and Silver Star families, and one another. For more information, visit
