Benefit Concert for Wounded Veterans Produced By JTHS Grads Leigh and Brooke Emery

U.S. Marine Sergeant Aaron Alonso, a graduate of Jefferson Township High School, will be honored at a night of music benefiting the Semper Fi Fund on Thursday, September 27, at The Cutting Room (44 East 32nd Street, New York, NY 10010).

Alonso was critically injured after stepping on an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan in 2014. Both legs were amputated and he sustained extensive abdominal injuries. Alonso received the Purple Heart, a military decoration awarded to those wounded or killed while serving.

Because of the Brave, a concert featuring some of Broadway’s most talented performers, is sponsored by Broadway Lights the Night (BLTN), a nonprofit organization founded in 2012. The event opens at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception featuring a premium open bar and a silent auction, which will provide an additional opportunity to support an important cause while bidding on great items.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will showcase some of Broadway’s most talented performers from hit shows such as Finding Neverland and Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. A full dinner and bar menu will be available during the show at an additional cost. Participants will enjoy a night of Broadway entertainment while celebrating those who preserve the freedom of all Americans.

To purchase tickets or donate to the cause, visit www.BroadwayLightsTheNight.com. Net proceeds will benefit the Semper Fi Fund in providing urgently needed resources and support for post-9/11 combat wounded, critically ill, and catastrophically injured members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.

Broadway Lights the Night is committed to producing inspirational musical performance events that benefit charitable causes. To date, BLTN has raised more than $100,000 for disaster relief as well as research into leukemia, lymphoma, ovarian cancer, and Alzheimer’s.
