Jefferson Township will observe Veterans Day on Saturday, November 9, 2019. The observance will be held at the Veterans Memorial at the Municipal Complex on Weldon Road starting at 11 a.m. Mayor Eric Wilsusen will be the Master of Ceremonies.

The Jefferson Township High School chorus will lead those present in singing the National Anthem.

Colonel Will McDonough of Picatinny Arsenal and Commander Robert Newell of the NJ Department of the American Legion will be the guest speakers.

Other dignitaries attending are Ruby Cramer, President of the NJ American Legion Auxiliary, Matthew Thalasinos, Commander of the NJ Sons of the American Legion, Tricia Strasser, President of the Blue Star Mothers of North Jersey, and Willy Tolba, Military and Veteran Liaison for Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill.

Members of the America Legion Posts 245 and 423 will be honored by the township and the American Legion for their years of service to our country and community.

A tree will be dedicated to the American Legion Auxiliary commemorating its 100th anniversary. Refreshments will be served in the Municipal Building after the observance.

Parking for the event is available in the Municipal Complex parking lot and in the Recycling Center any time during the day. Parking is not permitted on Weldon Road.

The committee is also collecting the names of township residents who are currently serving in the Armed Forces in order to update the hallway plaques in the Municipal Building. All are invited to attend the observance to remember and honor all veterans, living or dead.
