Holiday trains will be on display next month during an open house at Camp Jefferson (81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong). The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is hosting three model railroad car clubs on Saturday, December 8, from 9-5 and Sunday, December 9, from 9-4. Visitors are invited to enjoy model railroading displays in action.

The BD&W Club will run HO scale trains in the Train Cabin; the High Point “N” Track Club will run N scale modular trains in the Recreation Hall; and the Pocono Mountain Garden Railway Society will run G scale trains in the Community Lodge. Displays will include large and small trains and smoking locomotives with lots of sounds – both old and new generations.

Bring the whole family, and invite friends and children of all ages for pre-holiday fun. The event is rain or shine. However, in the event of snow, contact one of the following to confirm if the event will take place: Jim DeYoung at 973-713-4077 or Birger Luecht at 973-452-6434.

There is no admission charge, but donations are welcome. Parking is free at Camp Jefferson, with free shuttle service for overflow parking from Ellen T. Briggs School (1 Jefferson Drive, off Espanong Road) and the Board of Education (31 Route 181).
