Registration for the spring 2019 recreational soccer programs will open on October 20. Jefferson Youth Soccer (JYS) is participating in the town’s Fall Festival that day, providing an opportunity for early registration.
JYS volunteers will be on hand at the Fall Festival to answer questions parents may have and to assist in registering players.
Rockaway Valley Soccer League for Ages 6-14
Soccer players ages 6 to 14 will be eligible to play in the local Rockaway Valley Soccer League against opponents from neighboring towns including Dover, Rockaway, Wharton, Denville, and Parsippany, among others.
The spring season is expected to start about mid-April (depending on the condition of the grass fields following the winter) and continue through the end of school in June. Each team plays eight games, most of which are on Saturdays.
Players are grouped by birth year and coached by parent volunteers who earn the required coaching certificates. Practices are held once or twice a week.
Kiddie Soccer for Ages 3-6
Children born in 2013 and later, who are not old enough to participate in the Rockaway Valley Soccer League, may join the JYS Kiddie Soccer program. Training support is provided by ATSC (the instructional soccer training organization that trains Jefferson travel teams). Players will learn basic soccer skills during six weekly sessions, preparing them to play on a recreation team once they enter kindergarten.
