This year marks the first “Putt with the Police” event, a junior golf tournament that will be hosted at the Lake Hopatcong Golf Club on Friday, September 22 at 6 p.m. The rain date for this event is scheduled for September 29. Children ages 8 through 14 may participate on the golf course for the entirety of the event which will be between two and three hours as police supervise. Child registration includes one round of 18 holes, snacks, a hot dog or pasta dinner, refreshments, a gift bag, raffle, and prizes for contests.

The cost of registration is $20 per player and the registration is first come first Visit www.JTPD-jr-golf.eventbrite.com to register your child.

Parents are not permitted on the golf course but there will be fun activities for them as well. Parents get to enjoy dinner at Alice’s or The Windlass, with 20 percent of the check going to the D.A.R.E. program.

All the proceeds from this event will benefit the JTPD D.A.R.E. program, a drug resistance education program taught to Jefferson’s elementary students. It emphasizes good decision making skills to help them lead healthy lives. This program has intentions of creating a community which is empowered to respect others, stay free from violence, substance abuse, and other dangerous behaviors.
