The Knee Deep Club will hold a trout fishing contest on Lake Hopatcong on Sunday, April 14. The contest begins at 5:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. The club will stock more than 1,000 trout on April 7; combined with state’s normal program, more than 10,000 trout will be stocked in the lake this spring.
The fee of $20 for Knee Deep Club members and $25 for non-members must be submitted with the official contest entry form. A payout of 80% of entry fees will go to the anglers weighing in the three heaviest trout. Top finishers will be based on weight, and ties will be broken according to which fish was entered first.
Contestants may enter children under age 16 for a $5 fee. The child with the heaviest trout will win a rod and reel combo, and ties will be broken according to which fish was entered first.
Entry forms are available online at www.kneedeepclub.org and at the club’s official weigh stations: Dow’s Boat Rental (Nolan’s Point, Lake Hopatcong) and Lake’s End Marina (Lakeside Boulevard, Landing). Mail-in entries must be received by Friday, April 12; in-person entries can be made until 8:00 a.m. on the day of the contest. Complete contest rules are on the entry form.
