The annual Stew Lant Challenge largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing contest was held on Sunday, June 24. The contest, sponsored by the Knee Deep Club and Ramsey Outdoor, ran from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only largemouth and smallmouth bass caught in Lake Hopatcong could be entered, and top finishers were based on weight.

There were 26 entries with the following winners:

1st – Lou Marcucci, Mt. Arlington (3 lb. 3 oz.) – $260, rod and reel
2nd – John Moran, Hopatcong (2 lb. 14 oz.) – $124, rod and reel
3rd – Eddie Mackin, Sparta (2 lb. 12 oz.) – $105, rod and reel

Rod and reel combo winners:

4th – Jake Cerami (2 lb. 10 oz.)
5th – Rob Bozik (2 lb. 6 oz.)
6th – Matt Wood (1 lb. 8 oz.)

Rich Everett, trustee of the Knee Deep Club, expressed thanks to all who entered the contest. “Congratulations to the winners,” he said. “Thank you to Ramsey Outdoor for donating the rods and reels.”
