A hybrid striped bass fishing contest will be held the weekend of July 14-15, sponsored by the Knee Deep Club. The contest begins at 5 a.m. on Saturday and concludes at noon on Sunday.

The entry fee is $20 for club members and $25 for non-members. A payout of 80% of entry fees will go to the anglers weighing in the three heaviest hybrid striped bass. Gift certificates will be awarded for the 4th, 5th, and 6th heaviest fish.

Take a kid fishing! The entry fee is only $5 for children up to 12 years old. The child who catches the heaviest hybrid striped bass will win a rod and reel combo.

Entry forms are available online at www.kneedeepclub.org and at the club’s official weigh stations: Dow’s Boat Rental (Nolan’s Point, Lake Hopatcong) and Lake’s End Marina (Lakeside Boulevard, Landing). Mail-in entries must be received by Friday, July 13. In-person entries can be made until 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 14. The official contest entry form provides complete contest rules.

The hybrid striped bass fishing contest is in memory of Dominick Sarinelli, an avid outdoors person who loved fishing in Lake Hopatcong and hunting in the northern New Jersey area. He won many Knee Deep fishing contests and supported the club for years.
