The Knee Deep Club’s first of three 2019 ice fishing contests will take place on Sunday, January 20, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The entry fee is $20 for club members and $25 for non-members. Cash prizes will be based on an 80% payout of entry fees for the three heaviest fish in each of the following three categories: Perch/Crappie, Pickerel, and All Other Species (excluding muskies). Ties will be broken according to which fish was entered first.

Take a kid fishing! Any contestant may enter a child through age 15 for $5. The child with the heaviest fish in each category will win a jigging rod and reel. Ties will be broken according to which fish was entered first.

Entry forms with complete rules are available online at www.kneedeepclub.org (click on “What’s Up” on the left) and at the club’s official weigh stations: Dow’s Boat Rental (Nolan’s Point, Lake Hopatcong) and Lake’s End Marina (Mount Arlington Boulevard, Landing).

Mail-in entries must be received by Friday, January 18. In-person entries can be delivered until 8 a.m. the morning of the contest. If the contest is postponed due to unsafe ice conditions, a notice will be posted. For additional information, call 973-663-3826.

The Knee Deep Club is wishing for a cold period that creates safe ice. The second contest is scheduled for February 10 and the third for March 3.
