In a recent column titled “Shore Things,” Charyn Pfeuffer of MSN.com compiled a listing of the top lake in each of the 50 states. Not surprisingly, Lake Hopatcong was awarded that honor for New Jersey.
“The Garden State’s largest lake offers 45 miles of shoreline,” Pfeuffer wrote. She noted that Hopatcong State Park is a popular swimming spot offering everything needed for a day at the lake such as bathrooms, showers, food concessions, a picnic area, a playground, and volleyball courts.
Top lakes in other states include Mendenhall (Alaska), Okeechobee (Florida), Sebago (Maine), Michigan (Michigan), Tahoe (California and Nevada), George (New York), Erie (Ohio), and Powell (Utah).
