As a leading Northeastern resort from the 1880s through the 1930s, Lake Hopatcong drew many of the day’s celebrities to vacation on its shores. In this circa 1915 photo we see Rex Beach in his speedboat, The Greta. Beach was one of America’s favorite authors writing many adventure novels. He owned a house in Henderson Cove off Chincopee Avenue in Jefferson Township for about 7 years.
