With touches of spring in the air, the Lake Hopatcong Museum presents its summer programs.

Back by popular demand, the museum will offer evening and daytime museum hours this year.  Evenings will feature special exhibits and events. The museum will next be open on Friday, March 24th from 5 – 8 p.m. with a special salute to skate sailing at Lake Hopatcong utilizing items from the archives of the Skate Association of America.  We will also be open on Sunday, March 26 from 1 – 4 p.m.  Hours can always be found at http://wwwlakehopatconghistory.com/Hours/

The summer program schedule for 2017 includes:

  • Thursday, June 1, 2017 – The Times They Are A Changin’:Lake Hopatcong in the 1960s, Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, 6 p.m., Dinner Program.
  • Thursday, July 6, 2017 – The Lundin Family Collection, Lake Hopatcong Photographed from the 1930s-1970s,  Jefferson House, 6 p.m., Dinner Program.
  • Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Lake Hopatcong Day at Knoebels Amusement Park (Elysburg, PA) featuring a special behind-the-scenes tour with many of the rides once found at Bertrand Island Park, starting at 9:30 a.m.  (Charter bus leaving lake at 7a.m., or drive yourself and meet at Knoebels.)
  • Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10, 2017,Abbott& Costello Film Festival, Palace Theatre, Netcong, featuring Chris Costello.


The museum also reports that The Growing Stage Theatre are holding their annual gala on Saturday evening, March 4 at Perona Farms.  The evening will feature great food, fabulous silent auction, and wonderful entertainment. Finally, the museum officials note that the roof of the Lake Hopatcong Station is now complete.
