Chamber’s Meet and Greet a Bipartisan Event

It was not the typical networking event.

The Jefferson Township Chamber of Commerce welcomed all local candidates to a “Meet and Greet” on Thursday, October 18, a date that would otherwise have been the group’s monthly happy hour get-together.

The atypical event was well attended by chamber members and guests. They gathered at Lake Hopatcong’s Stone Water Restaurant to meet and mingle with Eric Wilsusen, who is running unopposed for the township’s mayoral spot, and the four candidates vying for two council seats.

Democrat candidates Dan Malloy and Doug Helmstetter are campaigning for the council seats under the banner of “A Shared Voice for Jefferson.” Council member Debi Merz and local school board member Melissa Senatore are on the Republican ticket, together with Wilsusen. Their campaign motto is a “New Vision for Jefferson with Experience.”

Chamber president Dr. Bret Hartman personally introduced the candidates during the meet and greet. Although they did not present their platforms or give presentations, many in attendance took the opportunity to speak with the candidates individually and in groups.

The occasion was sponsored by Nisivoccia LLP, certified public accountants and advisors based in Mount Arlington.
