The King of Instruments – the Pipe Organ will be the topic James Wynne, Organist and lecturer, will present via Zoom, on Wednesday 30, 2020 at 7 p.m.
The pipe organ, often associated with the church, has now become the most expensive, most powerful, heaviest, space consuming musical instrument in history. But little can be seen by the average listener other than the musician playing its many keyboards that gives one the understanding of just how it makes those powerful sounds.
This lecture will explore the history and mechanics of the pipe organ, using historic installations from around the globe, as well as a local installation in Northern New Jersey as the point of demonstration. The entire lecture will be presented virtually on Zoom, so all you will need is an invitation to join the meeting, which you can get by emailing presenter, James Wynne, at firstname.lastname@example.org
