On Sunday, June 25, 2017, at approximately 6:41 p.m., Jefferson Township Police Department Corporal Eric Sudak and Officer Mark Williams responded to a motor vehicle crash on Ridge Road in the area of Holland Mountain Road.

The initial investigation revealed Joe Rivera, 58 of Stockholm was traveling West on Ridge Road, operating a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, when the vehicle left the roadway striking a guard rail.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Jefferson Township Fire Co. Numbers 1 and 2 and the Milton First Aid Squad responded to the scene in coordination with the Jefferson Township Police Department. The roadway was closed during the initial investigation.

Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by Traffic Safety Officer Roger Davis and Detective/Sergeant Sean Krater. Any witnesses to this incident should contact the Jefferson Township Police Department at 973-697-1300.
