The Jefferson Township Recreation Department’s karate program will begin a new 10-week session on Mondays from January 7 through March 11, 2019. The program is open to all school-age children as well as adults.

Instructors from the Jersey Judo Karate Academy of Kenvil teach the Isshinryu style. The skills learned help students develop coordination, balance, posture, endurance, and self-confidence. Sensei Rick Norris is a Kudan (ninth degree black belt), and the academy’s staff includes more than 50 certified, fully trained black belts.

Classes are held in the Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson on Weldon Road: grades K-4 6:30-7:30, grades 5-12 and adults 7:30-8:30. The program fee is $55. A discount of $5 per person is offered for additional siblings enrolled.
