9/15/18, DWI (Romash): Following numerous complaints about an erratic driver on Route 15 North and Minnisink Road, an officer located the vehicle on Rockawack Avenue. Melanie Hafdelin was inside the vehicle, covered in vomit. It was determined she was intoxicated. She refused to provide samples of her breath and was issued an appropriate summons. A court date is pending.

9/19/18, MV Crash/DWI/Aggravated Assault/CDS (Paskas/Ondish): Timothy Ayers, 40, of Jefferson Township struck another vehicle at the intersection of Route 15 South and Berkshire Valley Road, causing the other vehicle to strike a sign at the Woroco gas station. Ayers appeared to be under the influence; further investigation revealed heroin in his vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover for minor injuries. Ayers was arrested, processed, and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, and multiple motor vehicle offenses. He was released on a summons on his own recognizance and transported to the hospital for a minor injury. A court date is pending.

9/22/18, MV Crash/DWI (McCarthy): Jason Bottani, 32, of Pompton Lakes crashed his vehicle on Berkshire Valley Road. Subsequent investigation determined he was operating his motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was processed and released, pending a court date.

9/23/18, DWI (McCarthy): Gerardo Vera, 36, of East Orange was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on Berkshire Valley Road. He was found to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs. He was processed and released, pending a court date.

9/24/18, MV Stop/CDS (Paskas): Matthew Tarant, 40, of Newton was stopped after making an illegal turn through the parking lot of Mountain Tire to avoid a traffic signal en route to Club 15. He was placed under arrest, processed, and released on a summons, pending a court date.

9/25/18, DWI/Possession of CDS (Paskas): Ali Rahin, 27, of Somerset was observed vomiting by his vehicle at the QuickChek on Route 15. Upon further investigation, he was found to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was arrested for possession of a CDS, driving while intoxicated, and driving while suspended. He was processed and released, pending a court date.

9/26/18, MV Stop/Speeding, DWI, Eluding (Ondish): Robert Hobbs, 41, of Sparta was stopped for speeding on Route 15 South. He drove into the parking lot of Weichert Realtor, jumped out of the vehicle, and began running away. The officer caught up and arrested him on the side of the building. He was issued summonses for resisting arrest, eluding, obstruction, throwing bodily fluid at a law enforcement officer, threatening officers, operating under influence of liquor, speeding, failure to maintain lane, failure to inspect, refusal to submit to breathalyzer, refusal to submit to chemical test, suspended driver’s license, failure to possess driver’s license, failure to possess driver’s insurance card, failure to possess driver’s registration, open container of alcoholic beverage, and reckless driving. He was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility, pending a court date.

10/8/18, DWI/Motorcycle Crash (Stokes): William Youells, 51, of Glenwood crashed his motorcycle at the intersection of Deerhaven and Green Pond Road. He was transported to the hospital and issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to maintain lane.
