Police: Jefferson Resident Charged with Unsafe Lane Change

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, Jefferson resident Scott Breitz was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to observe traffic lanes, and making an unsafe lane change, Jefferson Township Police said.

The charge comes from the on-going investigation of the motor vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 on Berkshire Valley Road in the area between Solar Road and Taylor Road.

The initial investigation revealed Scott Breitz, 21, of Jefferson Township was traveling West on Berkshire Valley Road, in a 1990 Mercedes 560. Alicia’s vehicle was struck by Breitz’s vehicle, in a head-on type collision; however the crash is still under investigation by officer Roger Davis and detective/sergeant Sean Krater.

Alicia Montello and Darlene Gindhart were both pronounced dead at the scene. Scott Breitz was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

This incident is still under investigation by Traffic Safety Officer Roger Davis. Any witnesses to this incident should contact Davis at 973-697-1300.
