The Jefferson Township Police Department will be participating this year in the National Night Out Program sponsored by National Association of Town Watch.

This will be the thirteenth year Jefferson Township has participated in the event. The entire community will be highlighted in the event, to be held at the Jefferson Township Municipal Building.

The event is primarily designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations.

The Police Department will be hosting the festivities at the Municipal Complex located on Weldon Road for all Township residents on Tuesday, August 1, 6 – 9 p.m. The Jefferson Township Fire Cos. #1 and 2 as well as the Milton First Aid Squad, Jefferson Rescue Squad, and the Jefferson Township Fire Prevention Bureau, Office of Emergency Management and Municipal Alliance for a Drug Free Community, JT Connect will be participating and will have equipment on display.

The police department will again offer a cookout in which hot dogs, soda, and chips will be available as long as supplies last. Crime prevention material, firearms display and other displays will be available as well as activities for kids. DJ Earl will be providing entertainment. The Police Departments Community Policing Unit and bicycle patrol officers will be participating. Mayor Russell Felter and the Township Council have been invited to attend.

The event is open to all residents of the Township and everyone is encouraged to turn on any outside lights in support.
