A three-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive at a Lake Hopatcong beach on Tuesday night, according to Jefferson Township police.

On Tuesday August 18 police responded to the Community Association of Prospect Point (CAPP) Beach at Lake Hopatcong on a report of an unresponsive child in the water.  Officers Charles Paskas and Mathew Saparito and Corporal Jeremy Romash arrived on scene and started CPR on the boy, who was found unresponsive in the water off of CAPP Beach by a man fishing from the dock.

The child was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, where he was pronounced dead.  The incident is not deemed to be suspicious. The identity of the child and his family will not be released.
