Jefferson Arts Committee Announces Free Summer Concert Series Lineup
The Jefferson Arts Committee will offer the following free outdoor summer concerts on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. The concert location is the beautiful Victorian Jefferson Township gazebo in the municipal complex (1033 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge).
June 29 – Jefferson Township Community Concert and Jazz Bands (www.jeffersonarts.org): a wonderful repertoire of popular favorites including the classics, Broadway musicals, standard marches, and patriotic salutes performed by talented local musicians under the direction of Peter Tummillo. The energizing jazz band ensemble, also directed by Tummillo, will perform as well.
July 6 – Jersey Sound (www.jerseysound.com): a premier oldies band performing regularly at Pavinci’s Italian Grill in Hopatcong. Known for versatility, its talented members give audiences a combination of music genres, creating delectable sounds. They offer an eclectic blend of classic oldies, Motown, R&B, and pop with the very best vocalists and a killer rhythm section holding it all together.
July 13 – No Concert Due to Jefferson Fest on Saturday, July 14: food truck festival, concert, and fireworks. The Cameos will perform for Jefferson Fest on the main stage at the high school field at 7 p.m.
July 20 – Jump Start (www.jumpstartbandpa.com): the ultimate variety band playing classic rock, blues, oldies, funk, country, and jazz in the western New Jersey/eastern Pennsylvania region. Members are Frank Benincasa, guitar, T.J. Walker, keyboards, and Nick Parrella, drums.
July 27 – Reeds, Rhythm, and All That Bass (www.rrbbigband.com): 17-piece jazz/swing dance band with vocals playing the classic big band repertoire ranging from Ellington, Basie, and Goodman to Sinatra, Darin, and Ray Charles. Formed in 1973, the professional and dedicated semi-professional players use their talents to bring thrilling music to established and new audiences.
August 3 – South Street Station (www.southstreetstationband.com): four-man band from the New York tri-state area that enjoys combining different styles of music – pop hits, R&B, rock, and a dash of country. Seasoned veterans in the music industry, they have played at many area venues including the Mason Jar in Mahwah and Pavinci’s Italian Grill in Hopatcong.
August 10 – Country Comfort (www.facebook.com/NJCountryComfort): North Jersey’s top contemporary country cover band was voted champion of New York City’s NASH FM Battle of the Country Bands and performed at Six Flags Great Adventure. In addition to a few old classics now and then, they cover the latest hits from today’s top male and female country sensations – Miranda Lambert, Shelton Blake, Jason Aldean, Chris Young, Lady Antebellum, and the Band Perry, to name a few.
August 17 – Rave On (www.raveonband.com): plays the music of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and other legends of classic early rock and roll including The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and other artists. Enjoy memorable songs such as “Pretty Woman,” “Only the Lonely,” “That’ll Be the Day,” and more. Rave On’s show is always a crowd pleaser and living proof that this music is timeless and continues to appeal to all ages.
August 24 – Tequila Rose (www.tequilaroseband.com): one of the state’s hottest “new country” bands, mixing the best of today’s country music with classic country hits and sprinkling in a little rock and roll as well as southern rock. Known for their three-part harmonies, they have kept crowds singing and dancing at Big John’s Pub, Landslide Saloon, and many of the area’s summer fairs and festivals.
Bring along a blanket/chair for your comfort. Non-alcoholic beverages, picnic dinners, and snacks are permitted on the grounds. Attendees are asked to take their refuse with them when they leave. Dancing and singing along are encouraged on the brick extension or the grass. Free-will donations are greatly appreciated to help fund future concerts.
In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be relocated to the Jefferson Township High School auditorium (1010 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge). No food or beverages are allowed in the auditorium. For updates as to weather conditions and relocation of a concert, call 973-697-2032 or 973-697-3828.
