On September 10th, the ninth year of the LHOWSF took place at Flash Marina. Races included: the 2 mile, 1 Mile Tom Wear Memorial Swim, .5 Mile, and even an 100m Kids Swim. For results of these races please visit: http://www.j-chipusa.com/results.php?eventid=10602&p=.

Beginning as a charity event to honor Tom Wear, who was once owner of the Wearhouse Grille restaurant and who passed in 2008, the Lake Hopatcong Open Water Swim Fest was another success in its ninth year. Bridgette Hobart-Janeczko established this event in order to honor Tom. The event now has expanded to accommodate experienced and novice swimmers from all over the country, including options for competitors as well as those simply swimming for the fun of it. The money raised from this event goes to four different and respected animal organizations.
