The monthly Teen Scene gathering was a bit different in February. Although the usual large group of about 85 kids participated, the purpose was not only to have fun with their friends.
All around the room, pictures of Jefferson residents serving in the military were on display. When the teens arrived, they brought donations for care packages: gum, candy, beef jerky, tuna, and protein bars. The leaders were overwhelmed by the generosity of the community. Enough goodies were collected to assemble 20 care boxes for shipping to local military personnel.
During the evening, teens could stop by one of the tables to create valentines. Their talents resulted in about 75 beautiful cards for the service members.
“The night was a success and lots of love was shown!” said organizer Kimberly Reid.
