Age divisions for participation are 4-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-16, and 17-adult. The rules are simple: Create a homemade gingerbread house (or construct one from a purchased kit) with the theme “A Gingerbread Christmas.” Choose any type of structure. The size, including landscaping, may not exceed 12” wide by 12” high by 12” long. All materials, except the cardboard/wood/plastic base, must be edible.

Judging will be determined by the use of various edible materials, creativity, and originality. Prize ribbons will be awarded in all divisions for first, second, and third places.

Pre-registration is required. Entry forms are available at the library, municipal building lobby, and Camp Jefferson Recreation Department brochure rack. Forms can also be printed from www.jeffersonarts.org (select Registration Form section in upper right corner of the page). Mail the completed form and a $5 fee (check payable to Jefferson Arts Committee) no later than Tuesday, November 27, to: Jefferson Arts Committee, Gingerbread House Contest, PO Box 2604, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.

All gingerbread houses must be dropped off at Milton United Methodist Church on Friday, November 30, at 6:30 p.m. for the judges’ viewing. Prize ribbons will be awarded, and the public can view all entries at the church on Saturday, December 1, from 10:00 to 4:00. Participants must pick up their entries between 4:00 and 4:15 that afternoon.
