Outdoor Classes Where Kids Learn through Play

Tinkergarten classes will begin on Thursday, September 13. The 8-week program for children ages 18 months to 5 years will be held at The Feisty Pepper (1082 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge) from 9:45-11:00 a.m.

Tinkergarten brings early childhood education to outdoor green spaces. Kids enjoy the freedom of independent exploration through well-designed play-based activities. Taking from the best research and best practices, classes promote the development of critical capabilities including self-reliance, creativity, persistence, and problem solving.

Founded in 2012 by Brian and Meghan Fitzgerald, Tinkergarten classes are led by trained, certified community of leaders – often parents – who bring healthy, social, and engaging learning experiences to their communities. In Jefferson, they will be assisted by a group of adorable new puppets.

The Tinkergarten fall curriculum will center on executive functions, specifically focus and self control. Autumn is a great time to explore gratitude, and Tinkergarten will plant the seeds of appreciation for nature to help children grow into responsible environmental stewards in the future. In addition, the young explorers will be able to earn badges upon completing the season.

Registration is open through Tuesday, September 11. To register, visit www.tinkergarten.com/leaders/angela.lamendola. Questions? Email TinkergartenAngela@gmail.com.
