Marines Returned to Picatinny Arsenal
The sun came out on Saturday, May 11, just in time to welcome back to Picatinny Arsenal the Marines of Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment. The morning had clear blue skies to greet approximately 160 Marines returning home after six months in Afghanistan. All members of Golf Company have returned safely.
Included in the deployment were three Jefferson Township residents: Corporals Connor Kraljevich (volunteer firefighter), Conor Labita, and Jake Miller.
The Marines arrived in buses from North Carolina, escorted by the lights and sirens of dozens of police and fire vehicles from numerous New Jersey municipalities. Passing beneath an American flag suspended between two of Jefferson’s fire trucks, they were greeted by a sea of cheering family members.

Once off the buses, the Marines formed up by platoons and were then released to reunite with their families. There were cheers, hugs, laughs, and tears, with some meeting their new babies for the first time.
Welcome back, Marines, and thank you for your service!
