The Junior Woman’s Club of Jefferson Township (JWCJT) is hosting its 19th annual Wrobo 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 1. The Wrobo Run was started to honor Jefferson Township resident Second Lieutenant John Thomas (J.T.) Wrobleski, a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps who passed away while battling in Ramadi, Iraq.

After the tragic 9/11 attacks, J.T. was determined to make a difference and joined the Marines. As J.T. strived to serve his country, the JWCJT strives to keep J.T.’s memory and spirit alive through the Wrobo Run and other efforts to make a difference in the community.

The proceeds of the Wrobo Run will go to Jefferson Township Teen Scene, a group that provides a place for teens in sixth through ninth grades to gather in a safe and friendly environment. These themed activities, programs, and special events offer these young adults an opportunity to foster positive experiences and strengthen social bonds.

Additionally, 20 percent of the proceeds will go to the JWCJT high school scholarship, an award presented to graduating students from Jefferson Township High School who have dedicated time to their community through volunteering and have exceptional academic achievement.

The JWCJT is looking for businesses to sponsor them and for the public to participate in this event. Registration for the race or information for sponsors can be found below.
