The Jefferson Arts Committee is pleased to announce that James Knapik was the recipient of its 2019 Memorial Scholarship Award.
Ranked first in his class with a weighted GPA of 4.575, Knapik is planning on attending the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University this fall to seek a Bachelor of Music degree with a career goal of becoming a music teacher and performer.
An outstanding student, James was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. He was also involved in numerous extracurricular activities during his Jefferson Township High School years in music and theater.
A member of numerous school bands, county, region, and state bands and the NJ All-State Band. Knapik played the clarinet, saxophone, flute and tenor sax as well as holding numerous leadership positions.
He was a member of Student Council and involved in several school clubs, Math and Science Leagues, and Academic Bowl and still found time to volunteer in the community.
Scholarship committee chair Rose Jackameit presented Knapik with the $1,000 award certificate at the Jefferson Township High School’s Awards Night.
